It’s hard to describe how one decides what makes an interesting image, and almost impossible to predict when that opportunity may occur, but that is all part of the spontaneity of photography, and more especially street photography. I am not a professional photographer, but just a guy who enjoys going out and catching those moments.

Taken both on my travels and when that moment comes upon me, be it that person that has that something about them, that fleeting moment when the light glances your subject or vista perfectly, or an inanimate object or abstract scene that grabs your attention, there is a kaleidoscope of opportunity out there to be had. I particularly enjoy street photography and take inspiration from people like Sean Tucker & Sonia Zeigler as I love their style and whole attitude towards the subjects of their images. Geometrical forms and minimal scenes tend to draw me in. It may be the light, the lines, the shapes, the repetition, or simply the patterns. Anything that adds mood and significance to a solitary figure being dwarfed by the architecture. This works particularly well in black and white, as in the right lighting conditions the contrast and subtlety of the greys adds a dynamic to the image you don’t get with colour.

I use a Fujifilm XPro camera and lens system for all of my work as I have found this suits my style of photography very well and I just love the output of the X system sensor.

This whole period of the Covid pandemic allowed me, and I have no doubt many other people whose lives and indeed livelihoods were affected, to re-assess the direction of their future, and for me it is to follow my passion for photography and get out there and capture life’s events.

If you would like a wall hanging, some of my images are available on canvas, acrylic or a printed reproduction at the link below.
